Lata Jerbus || Camping or Glamping?
Hi, Assalamualaikum!
After my first camping trip, rasa terpanggil pulak nak update blog. Hi blogspot, it's been a while. Used to have a "personal" blog when I was in my "childish" age. Lol. Yeah you know, "childish", so all my posts in that blog boleh dikategorikan sebagai *the content may contain sensitive material* hahaha. But this time, my blog is all about sharing my experiences on this and that.
|| Glamping over camping ||
As you can read on my title, camping or glamping?
Glamping is a glamorous camping. You need all those nicer things and you just want to feel comfortable while you are in the jungle. Kaitan dengan post? Um ok. Long story short, our preferred way was actually glamping over camping. But...
We made it! We went camping for a night and literally got NOTHING yang comfortable and nice there. When I said NOTHING, yes! We even "shi-shi" in the bush and "No Service" at all. No social medias, no phone calls and no toilet. Thank you.
With zero camping's experience, we just redah je. Since that was our first time, so we need to prepare lotssss of things. We listed out the basic camping's stuffs and just to make sure yang kitorang tak bawak benda-benda merepek.

|| Journey to Lata Jerbus ||
Date: 17th March 2018 - 18th March 2018
Location: Lata Jerbus, Kg. Pertak, Kuala Kubu Bharu
People joined: 6 - 2 equal to 4
Journey began after Zuhur
People said, Happiness is a full belly. So, we went for a lunch at Sambal Hijau, Sg.Penchala. It took us around 20 mins of driving from Seksyen U1,Shah Alam to Sambal Hijau. In Sambal Hijau, you can have varieties of masakan melayu. Yummayh!
Journey began
Bismillahirahmannirrahim. The journey began at 4pm (after terlepas simpang dan reroute)
We reached at Bukit Kutu Parking around 5pm. The driver need to be extra careful sebab jalan naik ke atas sempit and tak rata. Don't worry, tak payah fikir nak kena drive or rent 4WD semata nak naik. Naik sedan masih selamat lagi haha.
Oh yes, for those yang tak pernah jejak area Bukit Kutu ni, nak ke "Trio Lata" (Lata Jerbus, Lata Makau and Lata Medang), you have to google maps or waze "Bukit Kutu Parking".
Starting point to Trio Lata and Bukit Kutu ni mesti from this car park area and you have to pay RM1 for the entrance fee.
As we were not very familiar with the place, we asked few hikers for the exact route to Lata Jerbus. From the car park area, you have to walk around 100m kot, and then jumpa two intersections or I called it as "Y-intersections" because there are only two ways. Right and Left
Right : to Bukit Kutu Left : to "Trio" Lata
Experienced hikers said, route to Lata Jerbus ni banyak ambil kiri. To be honest, I lost count on how many times we pergi kiri and then kanan.
Estimated around 20-30 minutes walk up into the forest to Lata Jerbus from car park. No need to hike, it just an easy jungle trek which suitable for newbie campers like us. (read: campers yang bawak makanan, tent, bantal segala bagai macam nak stay lama)
Nota kaki: That easy trekking and 20-30 mins walk that I mentioned atas tu cuma untuk LATA JERBUS je tau.
Based on the hikers yang dah biasa dengan that area, they said if you want to go to Lata Makau or Lata Medang (which is atas lagi dari Lata Jerbus), you need to hike up for about 2-3 hours to reach there, I guess? Sorry, I'm still a baby there, so takde banyak info nak share.
So, along the way to Lata Jerbus. Ada dua bridges yang kena lalu. First bridge ni just nice je. Meanwhile, for the second bridge ni kira mencabar sikit sebab dah runtuh and senget.
Time ni hanya Allah je tahu rasa takut nak lalu sebab risau jatuh sungai dengan barang-barang. Masa ni buat onar kejap depan campers and hikers lain :') Malu.
From the second bridge, we still ambil jalan kiri. To be honest, I didn't even see any tagging pun along the track to Lata Jerbus. The red tag for "Jalan Mati" or "No Entry" adalah. After 15 mins walk, we found a camping site. We have to walk down the hill to the camp site.
Unfortunately, tempat yang kitorang jumpa ni totally different from the one yang kita google and research.
Tak puas hati. We hiked up and nak jugak jumpa waterfall. Baru like 5mins jalan, hujan turun. Jam dah around 6.30pm, habiskan masa gelabah cari raincoat lagi. The track pun dah start slippery and muddy.
Tak sampai 50m jalan, we gave up. Hujan, slippery and muddy track buat kitorang decide nak back to the first camp site. I almost terjatuh while I walked down the hill to the camp site. Alhamdulillah, masih selamat.
As I mentioned above pasal "No Service" tu. Yes, kita telah masuk zaman dimana, handphone dan internet belum pun lagi wujud.
If you are using Celcom line, you should feel thankful sebab Digi, UMobile and Maxis users dah deal with the connection's problem start dari car park area lagi. But, kebahagiaan tak selamanya for Celcom users ye. After the second bridge tu actually dah boleh bye-bye Celcom, welcome to the club. Haha.
Setup tent. First thing bila dah sampai is to setup the tent. Before it's raining cats and dogs, so better setup tent time tengah renyai ni.
And, the next thing yang paling penting is to make the campfire to stay warm bila malam nanti, to halau nyamuk and of course for the BBQ. Nasib baik, kitorang tak payah build the campfire from scratch (like cari kayu et cetra) because previous campers dah siap-siap kan tempat tu, got broom and table yang direka khas from kayu-kayu hutan lagi. Creative.
Oh, our camp site tu tak besar pun. Boleh masuk dua khemah besar je. But, I think kalau kitorang pergi atas lagi, jumpa lah camp site yang boleh muat 7 to 8 tents tu. Hampa.
Camping tips #1: If you dapat camp site yang not so spacious like the one yang kitorang jumpa ni, you are encouraged to bring along your covered hammock. Jimat ruang.
The camp site was quite clean untuk bentang tikar solat. Yeap, there is no toilet untuk berwudhuk. Even water bottles yang kitorg bawak pun memang cukup cukup untuk survive sampai esok.
Luckily, our camp site dekat sangat dengan sungai. Easy.
Nota kaki: Bring at least 2 large water bottles setiap seorang. Cukup untuk camping semalaman. If bermalam-malam, I sarankan bawak cerek ye. Jimat tenaga. Takkan nak bawak berat berat daki bukit turun bukit kan. Nak "shi shi"? Bring along botol kosong, and pakai air sungai. Bukan melabur dalam sungai ye! Aip.
Plan asal nak make sure campfire ni menjadi before malam. Tapi sebab baru lepas hujan, api pun mcm sendu. Maka bertemu malam pun api masih sendu.
Camping tips #2: Please make sure the weather condition is good. Since we're not on the camp site yang near to waterfall tu, so takde masalah bahaya tepi sungai ke apa. But, problem datang masa nak buat unggun api. Tanah lembab. It took us around an hour kot baru boleh start BBQ. Lapar teruks.
Camping tips #3: Bertolak lah seawal mungkin, we never know what may happen kan. Lesson learnt to us; Dah lewat sampai camp site, hujan. Dah hujan, unggun api tak menjadi-jadi pulak.
When I said we are newbie campers, I meant it.
Bukti pertama;
We didn't bring enough lamp. :') Nasib baik I bawak camping lamp, kalau semua bawak torchlight? Ber-huhu lah dalam gelap tu.
Bukti kedua:
We didn't bring food tongs. :') So, with the creativity yang ada dalam darah daging kitorang. We used ranting and covered with aluminium foil. hashtag survival tips.
Spent a very quality night together sebab semua tak pegang phone langsung. Al-maklum, "No Service". But somehow I think bagus jugak, lari kejap from all these social medias thang. Layan bunyi sungai and cengkerik. Kejap-kejap nampak je few hikers yang baru turun and baru naik. Takde lah rasa sunyi sangat.
Ok, I have to share this story;
Around 12am, kitorang ready nak "off to bed". Cuci muka tepi sungai and "shi-shi" in the bush. Ok part "shi-shi" ni, I fikir satu je. Apa je yang nampak depan mata masa tu, buat dunno. Hahaha.
Dalam 1am something, kitorang yang perempuan still lagi chitchat dalam tent tau, biasalah lama tak jumpa.
All of sudden, we saw few head lamps dari atas turun ke our camp site. Cepat-cepat kitorang tutup lampu and diam. We heard steps outside our tent, almost 10-15mins jugak kitorang kaku dalam tent. Terus teringat cerita seram masatu.
And then, muncul lagi dengan lampu besar suluh our tent. Rupanya askar-askar jaga kawasan. 2, 3 kali muncul. Pukul 3 pagi pun ada ronda lagi. Fuh!
|| Greeny green everywhere. The freshness smell of the jungle ||
Woke up to my friend's alarm for Subuh prayer and I just realized yang I fell asleep dalam ketakutan that night.
Morning view dalam hutan memang tip-top, terus rasa bersyukur sangat dapat peluang ni. Rasa all the burdens dalam diri hilang sekejap.
Listened to the birds chirping, the sound of river flowing, crunchy sound of dried leaves when I walk on it. Ahh, everything was so calm and peaceful.
Part paling penting bila masuk hutan yang ada sungai,
Well,
NOT a newbie anymore!
